It is said of Knudson that his psalm-book, which he always carried
in his breast pocket, once saved him from a deadly Yankee bullet;
this he later found in the book.

in 4 Jan 62 in Brazoria county (?). About July 62, the artillery
and cavalry companies were transferred out, and designation
changed to Bates' Texas Infantry Battalion. Reorganized as a
regiment early 63. Surrendered 2 Jun 65.
