Captured (or deserted to the enemy) at Petersburg, Va., 27 Jun 64. Imprisoned at Andersonville (Camp Sumter), Ga. Enlisted in the Confederate army while a POW in Oct 64 at Camp Lawton, Millen, Ga. (name first appears on a receipt roll for clothing dated 12 Nov 64). Captured at Egypt's Station, Miss., 28 Dec 64. Forwarded to Memphis, Tenn., and thence to Alton Military Prison, Illinois, where received 17 Jan 65. In prison hospital for intermittent fever 31 Mar-2 Apr, 12-18 Apr, 2-10 May, and 4-11 Jun 65. Released on oath of allegiance 27 Jun 65. Description: 5' 7'' tall, grey eyes, brown hair, sandy complexion, by occupation a sailor. D: ?

Organized for state service 11 Jun 61, Camp Trousdale, Sumner county, Tenn. Mustered into Confederate service 15 Aug 61. Consolidated with 23rd Tennessee Infantry Regiment Nov 63. Surrendered 9 Apr 65.

Captured at Chickamauga, Ga., 19 Sep 63. Forwarded to Louisville Military Prison, Ky., and thence to Camp Douglas, Chicago, Ill., where received 4 Oct 63. On 23 Mar 65 transferred to Point Lookout, Md., where received 31 Mar 65. Released on oath of allegiance 28 Jun 65. On 1 Jul 65 he reported at the Provost Marshal General's office in Washington, D.C., and was furnished transportation to Galveston, Tex.
